Did you know that GreenHealth carries a few different types of Peppermint essential oil, each with its benefits?
Let’s break down our Peppermint oils and each of their benefits!
Peppermint (Japanese): Benefits and Common Uses
Botanical name: mentha arvensis
This oil is commonly known for its strong scent, but many are not a fan of particular notes of the aroma.
Mentha arvensis has the same benefits as mentha piperita and our Terpeneless Peppermint, but it is not accepted by many aromatherapists to be used for therapeutic purposes.
However, you can use mentha arvensis for a variety of symptoms including nausea and muscle pain relief.
Peppermint (Supreme): Benefits and Common Uses
Botanical name: mentha piperita
My favorite essential oil! It’s so hard to resist that inviting, invigorating aroma!
Peppermint Supreme can be used in a multitude of ways similarly to mentha arvensis- here's a video with some of the benefits on our Youtube!
The main difference between our Peppermint Supreme and Japanese is that our Supreme contains the organic compound, menthofuran. This compound in particular creates a sweeter scent in our peppermint oils, but it is stronger in the Supreme essential oil.
Peppermint (Terpeneless) Benefits and Common Uses:
Botanical name: mentha arvensis
Terpenes, to put it simply, are naturally occurring compounds that are in essential oils.
Terpeneless essential oil is an oil that has been triple distilled to the point where most or all of the terpenes have been removed from the oil. This creates a more concentrated essential oil for you to enjoy.
If you prefer Peppermint Japanese to but would like a more concentrated menthol scent (without the terpenes), Peppermint Terpeneless is the way to go!
Summary- Different variations for different uses:
